I am not joking on this one.

He is in the unfortunate position on doing it with the most objectivity he can, being one season out.

Starting with the offensive game plan. If it takes less time then usual, if he finds more angles then usual to attack, and if he specifically finds players he should go against, then his decisions will be simple to make.

On offense, he should also evaluate the global performance. If he is happy with long drives per game, balance, time of possession, gamble plays, etc.

On special teams, coverage is the basic angle. With coaches film he can see if the individual coverage, system and performance is adecuate. He can't get on the kicker's mind, but he will be able to see that our kicker is having technique deficiencies (he is bending it like Beckham, seriously).

After gathering all the game plan, he would have a very good idea of what is wrong, and if the improvements have to be done with what we have, and that includes coaches and players...

Sounds like self-scouting, which all NFL teams do throughout the season and in the offseason to make adjustments and go against predictability.

True, but it has to go beyond that. It is not only an evaluation process, it is a matter to help Sean to choose what he wants for the future.

As I wrote before, Sean has to take the biggest coaching decision since faking to kick-off at the Superbowl. He has to decide what he wants for a defense in the future, and start building.

He also has to think twice about the offense, including strong points and vices. Yes, he has to consider is it worth being this aggressive, the balance, if we should return to the west-coast model, if we need to build an offense that can help our defense by keeping the ball, etc.

It is a precious moment to start again, if this is not a rebuilding process, at least it is a remodeling job.
