Just wondering if anyone had ever applied one of the new decorative concrete coatings. I have cement around my pool that is three different shades of grey and I'd like to apply a coating over the whole thing. I'd like to know how hard it is to apply and how it holds up. I have a large area to do. My pool is 60 ft long. I built it myself so in not afraid of hard work). ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364133618.113780.jpg

I've seen some sundeck products after the work was done. A few of them looked pretty good but most of them have an artificial look that I don't care for. I have no idea how difficult it is to install or how expensive.

Nice job on the pool, that thing is huge.

A company called SGM makes a covering specifically designed for concrete decking around a pool.

You will usually have to order these from a pool store. Most of these products will have to be ordered from the local pool supply distributor, so the store will be at the mercy of the distributor as to which colors are available (unless you are willing to pay handsomely for shipping from another distribution branch).

PM me if you have any questions. I own a pool supply store in Gulfport.

They have some incredible looking stuff. Now you are making me consider it. How does it work over that old washed rock concrete?

I am not sure about putting over the older rock concrete. I have only seen it used on the newer concrete without rocks. I'm sure if you called SGM at 800-641-9247 they could answer anything you may ask.

Another coating, if you are not wanting to use a spray gun or trowel is E-Z Pool Deck Coating.

All you have to do is roll this product on. The existing concrete needs to be acid washed first to etch the concrete. It is not cheap. Over $100 per gallon.

I'd imagine the washed concrete could add a cool texture if you picked the right look to accent it.

I had a complete yellow wood deck but it rotted out in 5 years. The new treatment the use just won't hold up down here in this humidify. $5, 000 worth of wood and three weeks of my time down the drain ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364209744.943406.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1364209789.091931.jpg

Have you thought about the composite decking? Kinda kooks like wood but will not rot or warp. It is a good bit more than wood but with longer life and a lot less maintenance. I never used it but a lot of people like it.

I went with cement because the composite decking requires wood posts and stringers. At least t think it does. I want something that applies to the cement with no gaps between to trap junnk and grow spiders.
