but her tweet is WAY more anti-Congress with a bit of anti-Israel - you're REALLY gotta twist it to make it anti-Semitic
I didn't read it that way. I also think it's absurd that people like Pelosi are calling the tweet "anti-semitic". Right or wrong, the tweet was in no way anti-semitic.
Hey, I'm not saying one way or the other. You guys need to take the substance up with the Dems and Omar herself who has now retracted her statement.

My hope is that Pelosi is like “look, the Rs are in the ropes and it’s just dumb to give them any space to counter punch”
More than likely big time Dems get that money too and Pelosi needed to keep Omar in her lane

If it’s the latter, it sets up a very interesting post 2020 dynamic if these players stay on the board

Why? I'm critical of the Democratic party every day. Pelosi and others were petty in their "anti-semitism" cries and Omar shouldn't have retracted anything if she meant what she said and it held any merit.

It's pretty simple.

explain this a bit more please
It was in the original talking points for the bill on her own page. But that was removed from her page after the flack over it.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/07/ocasio-cortezs-green-new-deal-offers-economic-security-for-those-unwilling-to-work.html

 Build on FDR’s second bill of rights by guaranteeing:  A job with a family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and retirement security  High-quality education, including higher education and trade schools  Clean air and water and access to nature  Healthy food  High-quality health care  Safe, affordable, adequate housing  Economic environment free of monopolies  Economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work

And then her team falsely claimed that this was a doctored version of it.

It may not have been what they intended to put out, but it wasn't doctored.

thank you

seems like it was one of those ideas that was always going to be jettisoned as soon as negotiation started
The actual resolution that outlines the Green New Deal does not include the "unwilling to work" part, but the overview document, released by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's office, does include the "unwilling" language. The overview entails the "nuts and bolts" of the plan.

the 'wisdom' of the position is that we're going to wind up paying for that population anyway, might as well be upfront, proactive and more economic about it - but we all know how the Rs feel about prophylactic approaches

It looks like AOC completely scrubbed the 'unwilling to work' language from her Green New Deal.
I would presume because it's easier to drop a throwaway line then deal with the ridiculousness of gullible or motivated people that can't separate their feels from objectivity and critical thinking.

I have to do some actual work now, so won't be able to participate for a while.

If it makes me evil by not wanting to support those unwilling to work, then I guess I am evil.
