Well, it could be worse:

Gandalf (Paul): "... Understand Frodo, I would use this giant pecker from a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

How long before uncle Freidr
I pretty much said that in the first sentence.
Yes, but you also said that there was in fact a double standard being used here. All I'm saying is maybe there isn't a double standard and they really would do the same thing with boobs and not have an issue with it.

rajncajn is into big fake dildo porn! I bet your collection is ....wait for it... HUGE!
Seriously dude?
Uptight, prudish and self-righteous are pretty much embedded in the USA's DNA
I'm by no means any of those. My comments have been strictly dealing with what I think is appropriate for CHILDREN. But, hey, if you think a cartoon that features a guy with a huge penis is great content for your kids then feel free to show it to yours. If you want to continue to insult people simply because their values aren't as loose as you think they should be when it comes to kids then I'll gladly move on. Just leave me out of the discussion.

Maybe they (meaning Denmark) wouldn't considering their more openness to nudity than what we're used to in the US. I'm going by what I think the reaction in the US would be.to a similar cartoon but with a female vs a male protagonist That's probably not fair to Denmark, but I'm guessing that there would still be some level of double standard there as well.

I think it's weird to my American sensibilities, BUT, because it exists, I would probably not want to make it so verboten to my child that then it would make it even more attractive to a pedophile to use in grooming. "Hey, little Johnny, come over and watch that show that mommy won't let you watch and here's all the sugar mommy won't let you eat and let me introduce you to MY John Dillermand which is here to save you."

I just don't understand why it exists in the first place.
I started to make this same comment earlier, but didn't have the time to make it clearly. My question was how long before some adult gets the idea of playing John Dillermand with the kids and help show them how their bodies are different? Totally innocent fun, right?

I get that people wish things were more open & less prudish in the US and I don't really disagree with that. But at the same time we need to recognize that what we wish as adults may not be as applicable to children.

The U.S is very much uptight, prudish and self-righteous. I wasn't talking about your directly. I was talking about the country. But to be more specific the country's point of view is usually from the perspective of the white male gaze. So while half naked women in beer commercials and excessive violence on tv is A-OK, this is not. That's pretty self-righteous.

I can choose not to let my child watch this show or baby shark or any other children's show. I can't protect her from the violence and over sexualization of the female figure that persists everywhere else. Magazine ads, commercials, billboards, tv and film, etc. So I'm good on the self-righteousness from you. The show itself is more silly than anything else and if a network wanted to bring it to the USA, I say go for it. No worse than anything else out there.

I think America's issue with this show may be more to deal with their own short-comings than anything else.

So white males are the cause of the country being uptight, prudish & self-righteous? Yet we also are the cause for half naked women in beer commercials & excessive violence on TV. Jesus, what are we not to blame for?

Oh, I agree the reaction would be very different in the U.S. That being said, there are probably countries where both would be fine. I'm specifically thinking of Japan where anime does a bunch of really weird sexual stuff with either sex.

I think we are mostly the ones responsible for the double standard you were talking about. Historically, males in general are fine with showing boobs, scantily clad women, and naked women, but no so much okay with scantily clad or naked men.

Hence the self-righteous part...keep up. It's a "this is deplorable" unless I like it mentality.

I understand that & don't really disagree, but what does that have to do with being white?

Bingo. I didn't think it was hard to understand. And it's obvious. American society is shaded by these undertones. It's not wrong or right. It is what it is. So I'm not shocked by outrage at this while completely embracing things other countries find horrific. Our moral compasses have been set to ignore what has become totally acceptable parts of American society.

Being the prudish, self-righteous ******** that we are, we say things like, "look at the sexually explicit stuff, they're showing their kids! Oh my Gawd! (meanwhile Sunday's game will feature more boobs than touchdowns)

I wish we weren't so prudish here about nudity. But imbuing a sexual organ with powers to "save" children is something different than not being ashamed of our naked bodies and, frankly, sounds right out of the NAMBLA playbook.
