Deonte Harris on reserve/COVID-19 list (Updated - Now removed from list) (1 Viewer)

I understand the caution. But false positives seem to be far too common. Can we not create a more reliable quick test?

Many experts are saying the "gold standard" PCR test is too sensitive.

The PCR can show a few harmless, dead fragments of the virus as a "positive" and needlessly strike fear and panic into people, as we have seen.

Less sensitive "at-home" paper tests are in the works! The tests are cheap, painless cheek swabs, take 5-15 minutes.

The quick tests are sensitive only to higher SARS-CoV-2 virus loads, which are transmissible. Lower loads found by PCR tests are not always transmissible, so we don't need to know about them. (though many want to know if they've had an asymptomatic case of the virus)

The FDA is holding up release of the best tests. I can imagine they are sort of snowed under, so maybe they should get a 1 month pass. If the $5 paper tests aren't out in a month, it's on the FDA. https://e25bio.com/

The Big 10 and the PAC-12 could learn a lot from the NFL.
Like creating a collective bargaining agreement to have a ethical approach and agreement to playing football?
