Depending on how the next 2 days does anyone see Freeney or Abraham come into play for us? (1 Viewer)

Could you see us being in on either of these guys if we don't get a decent pass rusher in the draft? Would you like either one of them or are you comfortable going with the guys on the roster?

I know Freeney wants a mega deal but I do believe Loomis has plans on how to move money around. I don't claim to know how he could do it but that's not my question here.

I'd always like to see a guy who I know can produce versus a guy that I hope can. Abraham has 32.5 sacks the last 3 years. I know he has not been a 3-4 guy but he knows how to get after the QB. It'd be interesting to see if he could fit.

Great question. The fact that they passed on Jones leads me to believe the front office may not as desperate for another pass rusher than a lot of us fans may be. With money being limited, I would expect them to go after one of the vet LT's that are still out there before going for either Abraham or Freeney. I would like to see it happen, but I don't think the interest will be there.

Let's see what we have with all the young talent we have. Our entire defense still has question marks that I think are bigger than linebacker. If Hicks/Bunkley play NT, who plays opposite of Jordan? I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised by Victor Butler. Let's develop our talent and see what we have. We don't have cap room for either of them anyways.

Rumor was that if the Saints didnt land Asomugha, they were going after Dwight Freeney, with that cap space.

I've read that and I've also read that we were waiting until after the draft when the market had cooled on them to show interest.

a) I'd rather be getting younger, not older.

b) Aren't they both 4-3 DE's? Wouldn't they not be as useful in a 34 scheme?

Interesting..... http://saintsreport.com/forums/4955323-post5.html

So, you don't want a 10 sack a year guy? You must have really high standards.

Right! Both of these guys have been super consistent at getting after the QB until Freeney last year.

None of the defensive guys who were on our roster last year were 3-4 guys. We didn't cut all of them. Most NFL elite players can survive in either system.
