Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (1 Viewer)

If you’re a first ballot HoF-caliber QB, you shouldn’t have to go to New York to actually become one.

Honestly, if I'm Carr and they said that, my first reaction would be, "ya'll are idiots", and I would close the door on ever going there. Because that shows right there that they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

He only averaged 25 YPG more than Goff did the previous year.

Stafford isn’t great. He’s in the same tier as Carr.
By what quantifiable measure is Derek Carr a better QB than Matthew Stafford, unless hopes and dreams has somehow become objective?

Did I miss the part where he says that Carr is better?

The straw man debate tactics on this forum are getting out of hand.

He had Carr for four whole games in Carr’s rookie season.

And, it was Oakland. Not the best franchise for any HC. Especially one who had only been a DC for what? 2 years? Even if DA is a good DC, that was a pretty stupid hire by Oakland.

What I'm curious about is what kind of offseason DA has. DA inherited a team with a lot of holes, and he needs to build the talent up to be successful. And, he actually did a pretty good job of that. Last year's draft was pretty good. I'm anxious to see if he can duplicate that this year. The draft and FA this season will go a long way to tell whether the Saints are ascending under Allen or not.

I don't think DA did as poor a job as HC as the board does, but I didn't like how he handled the QB situation. I will give him a pass and see what he does once we have an actual QB that we can form a game plan around.
I think he did an admirable job considering they battled injuries and question marks at the most vital position (QB) and ended up having the same season as Payton did his final year (under the same circumstances). I think the losses and lack of actual talent and depth at key positions made last season a tough watch, but hopefully this year they add and build to this roster so we can at least see the plan going forward.

I keep going back to the job he did with our defense. I think he just needs a little time which I'm willing to give him before calling for his head.

Did he…or was his decisiveness and ability to read defenses and get the ball out quick make the OL look better than they really were. We have had some good OL personnel…Evans, Nicks, Ramczyk, and Armstead were all good players. But there is no question that Brees contributed to their greatness. I don’t think that any of them would have looked near as good with Andy Dalton at QB.

I firmly disagree with this notion, it's a tiresome trope hauled out by folks who think Brees is the end all be all (and I love DB).....

Armstead, Ram, Evans, Nicks, Colston, PT, Lance Moore and others were good to great players in their own right, they would have been wherever they wound up.....

They can be great and Brees can be great also, the combination of both obviously was great.....all of this can be true....
