Burrow and Hurts are about cause a problem for the market.
Well...IDK about that. That would kinda imply that there will be guys better than them near term that will become FAs. After these guys it's a slew of mediocre...I wish Darnold would come out talmbout, "give me 30M a year...cuz Borrow got 50 and I'm at least half as good. He completed 70% of his throws, I completed 40%...pay me!"

That is true; however, once elite guys start getting 50 on average, the Carr's and Cousins' of the world want the floor to be 40.

Don't know about denial, but the reality is....just because a division was really bad one year doesn't mean it will be again the next year....things change really fast in the NFL, it seems a lot of folks are forgetting that.....
Doesn’t really change the overall point: we aren’t tanking. The organization isn’t rebuilding.

The Panthers can make a similar, and potentially better, argument than us. A weak division, an offensive coach, a better cap and picks, and a respectable defense. The more teams that get involved, the worse our chances are.
Sure, but that's life. Hopefully we still get him, but I think Carr was always going to shop around. I mean, I know I would, even if I'm gonna sign with the Saints, because, why not? He doesn't really have anything to lose because others can't wheel and deal until later in March. We just have to be patient and see how it turns out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Burrow got $55+. Mahomes is going to look like a steal at $50 eventually. The best time to lock in a QB will be the year before Burrow signs his new deal.

Mahomes is going to have to redo his deal soon. Also, no one talks about how Rogers will basically get 50-60 next season.

Every time the cap expands it seems like QBs and a few elite premium position guys get more money and most everyone else makes the same money as before.

It's almost like the best players at the most important positions make the most money and get the biggest raises...

I never said we are doing either, we are going to keep on keeping on with the same coaching staff that was an unmitigated disaster last year.....Never say never but the odds of DA and staff leading us to anything meaningful is very slim IMO.....I understand folks need to have hope, I get that, but I feel like I've seen this movie before and it doesn't have a happy ending for the fans.....it's making this Saints fan care a lot less TBH.....

It's not just yours, a lot of posters make excuses for Allen because we're stuck with him. He's the best we can do right now, I get it.
no, he just hasnt given us enough data yet. Anothe example is PC, yes we all think we know better and he's terrible. For ex, lets assume he ran more plays up the middle. PPl would be screaming why is he so predicatable etc etc. And i get it, but what we dont know is that the team we were playing was on their 3rd string DT and he's injured. See where im gong, it just looks ignorant to slander other humans without the full context. Granted, DA an PC may be terrible, but we have not gotten enough true data to make that determination. So it just sounds like venting.

Actually, I would say three previous years as an HC is quite a good bit of data. 7-10 with us only confirms the previous pattern.

My entire narrative is that EVERYONE sucks (.500) without a good/great QB. Technically DA improved since his OAK yrs. From 4 wins to 7. My point is, if you dont have enough data, then just stay positive or neutral. SF is the outlier, where they proved that a great QB isnt needed if your team is elite. However, becasue they didnt have a Qb they lost to the Eagles.

Remember when Drew got his huge contract? But, as soon as he got that contract you had other FAs later getting bigger contracts even if they were not that good. That's just how the market works.

You could choose to be cheap and not pay for a QB. But, then once you get the reputation as an organization that doesn't do what it takes to win, who wants to play there?
