So you changed the conversation to make it about lack of trust in the coaching staff.I never said we are doing either, we are going to keep on keeping on with the same coaching staff that was an unmitigated disaster last year.....Never say never but the odds of DA and staff leading us to anything meaningful is very slim IMO.....I understand folks need to have hope, I get that, but I feel like I've seen this movie before and it doesn't have a happy ending for the fans.....it's making this Saints fan care a lot less TBH.....
And the more the future of a slightly below average team will be mortgaged for a “solid” QB that has never shown he can elevate a slightly below average team. The Panthers can make a similar, and potentially better, argument than us. A weak division, an offensive coach, a better cap and picks, and a respectable defense. The more teams that get involved, the worse our chances are.
Regardless, it is still ok for some people to understand what the Saints are doing and know as fans we cannot change it, but still express rational criticism of the strategy since it’s now being applied to a team that is winning fewer games in successive years and showing more holes on its roster.Doesn’t really change the overall point: we aren’t tanking. The organization isn’t rebuilding.
Absolutely, If you ask any HC in the league what their goal is , they say win the division. Then see how far you can go. You HAVE to win the division FIRSTOnce again, the NFL is not a “Super Bowl ready made roster or tear the whole thing down” league. And I can guarantee you that the Saints organization does not have that sort of doom and gloom, let’s tank mindset.
If you can win your division, you go for it. All it takes is a hot streak, a lucky bounce, a ref call in your favor, or even an unknown rookie RB you picked in round 6 randomly stepping up and playing at an MVP level that year, and suddenly, you’re in a conference title game with a chance.
Hell, what if we had stumbled our way into a home playoff game by winning our division, beat Dallas, and our next opponent suddenly has to play that game without a QB like PHI got the privilege of facing in the NFC title game.
You just never know. Unless your roster is absolutely putrid, you have to give yourself an opportunity and go for it.
Posters are welcome to do whatever they like.Regardless, it is still ok for some people to understand what the Saints are doing and know as fans we cannot change it, but still express rational criticism of the strategy since it’s now being applied to a team that is winning fewer games in successive years and showing more holes on its roster.
The difference between New Jersey Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers is at least $15 million over three years, and potentially higher.
What I am getting at, if Jets made offer of $40 million/year, Saints could pay $37 million and Tampa could pay $35 million/year and Carr would be about in the same financial boat.
I don't see Carolina as good or better than us. Reich has tried with so-call retread QBs 3 times now and has had NO success. Their D is in te bottom 3rd of the league and they hardly have any weapons on O. They do have the 9th pick but they play outside and it gets pretty cold in Charlotte in the winterThe Panthers can make a similar, and potentially better, argument than us. A weak division, an offensive coach, a better cap and picks, and a respectable defense. The more teams that get involved, the worse our chances are.
Yeah, although the Jets did just hire his old OC Who has a more recent working relationship with him. So who knows? Hopefully it will help us more.Carr’s relationship with DA is the wild card, IMO. And I think he would come in with a welcomed input on opening up this offense. And…we have a top 10 defense.
WOW thanks for giving all us posters permission to discuss and for explaining how message boards work. Lol. BMOC and hall monitor al in one.Posters are welcome to do whatever they like.
Like pointing out when a thread about one topic devolves into doom and gloom about…everything.
Some of us would like to discuss various topics about the team. Which is why new threads are started.
This one is about Carr. Discussing stuff like “it doesn’t matter because Dennis Allen” or “it doesn’t matter because the team stinks” doesn’t add anything.
JMO
You literally just said “it is ok for people…”WOW thanks for giving all us poster permission to discuss and for explaining how message boards work. Lol. BMOC and hall monitor al in one.
Committing top dollar franchise money for Carr will be a disaster if DA continues to be the coach he has always been and it will make an actual transition much more painful and probably much longer.
Yeah. I repeat the same stuff in response to all the same stuff others keep posting. You literally just said “it is ok for people…”
I was simply acknowledging what you said.
Sorry you feel that way on Carr. You hadn’t expressed that yet. Over and over.
First of all, I don't really have any faith in DA , I have some in PC. Depends on what you call meaningful. If we get Carr, stay fairly healthy and pick up a couple of pieces then I think we go 11-6. That almost surely wins the division. Even if the NFCS was not as weak that would put us in the wildcard game. I guess the only meaningful for you is the SBI never said we are doing either, we are going to keep on keeping on with the same coaching staff that was an unmitigated disaster last year.....Never say never but the odds of DA and staff leading us to anything meaningful is very slim IMO.....I understand folks need to have hope, I get that, but I feel like I've seen this movie before and it doesn't have a happy ending for the fans.....it's making this Saints fan care a lot less TBH.....
