Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (4 Viewers)

This what Spotrac has Carr's market valued at.

Base Calculated Value: Terms- 5 yrs. $210,106,520 Avg. Salary- $42,021,304
Calculated Market Value: Terms- 3 yrs. $113,379,519 Avg. Salary- $37,793,173

I believe what Carr wants is in the $35,000,000 to $37,000,000 range. And from looking at other sights it's fair market value for where they have him rated. Now I'm not saying he's going to get that. But he may get somewhere between $30,000,000 and $35,000,000. And the price on these veteran QB's are just going to keep going higher and higher each season. I looked up Garoppolo's Market value and his is even higher than Carr's.

Because our best players or either old asf or injury prone or suspended
Kamara
Thomas
Lattimore
Jordan
Davis
Tyrann
Werner

You can’t count on many of them
Hence why we was trash last year
It wasn’t just the offense

If the choice is between being "only pretty good" or "likely not very good", call me crazy, but I'm gonna go with pretty good. How did the draft work for Denver, for example? Have they even had a winning season since Peyton retired?
Interesting that you mentioned Denver, since they made a big splash QB acquisition last year that probably had all of the same arguments about becoming an instant contender by just upgrading the QB position.

Wilson had a better rating, net yards per attempt, and TD-INT ratio with Seattle than Carr had with the Raiders.

Path to the bottom is a whole lot more likely without Carr. Without Carr we are forced to sign Jimmy G or Mayfield. Since both of them are trash adjacent we'll also have to draft a QB. There are only 2 projected to be available in our range. We'll have to overdraft one of them to ensure we get them due to the importance of the position. Chances of them actually being the answer is slim.

So we go through the year playing the 2nd easiest schedule in the worst division in football. Loomis will have a hard time firing Allen if he didn't have a QB worth a damn to win with. We won't end up with a top 5 pick or even a top 10 pick but we'll still need a QB. A top one won't be available then so our only hope is to trade up costing us another 1st round pick. If we miss, which is still more likely than not then that's 2 more 1st round picks invested into the same position without an answer.

Congratulations we just became bottom dwellers. We've spent 3 first round picks on a QB with nothing to show for it and all our veteran leadership is out the door. Even if you hit the chances of them being elite are slim, you're looking at being on Carr's level in 2-3 years.

I was responding to someone saying with our roster and Carr how are we not looked at as a lock to win the division

It means, for the price he is commanding, you could spread that cash out and secure enough talent to end up in the same spot you would have been in if you shot your load on Carr.
But is this even realistic? This is a make or break year for DA. I can't see the team looking at next year to get a QB.

This is going to be the same situation as Deshaun. Get them to the threshold and they leave you at the altar. Just draft a QB and make it work, that's how other teams have to do it, why not us? Retreads are always a gamble. We haven't drafted a QB high in the draft in forever. And don't say they have to be in the top 5 to do it because Brees was 2nd round, Hurts was 53rd pick and Lamar Jackson was 32nd pick!

The team isn’t perfect at evaluation, no one is, but if Loomis and the team’s personnel department are fully convinced that Carr is indeed a “long term solution,” then for now, I think I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

31 year old, four time Pro Bowl QBs that show a penchant for not turning the ball over who once finished third in MVP voting, all while playing for a moribound franchise and never once with a defense that finished in the top 20 don’t come available very often.

Did he win mvp what’s his win loss record
if he can’t improve mediocrity in Las Vegas what makes us different

They re been plenty of sorry franchises that have been boosted by the qb Ala Jacksonville
We don’t have the resume of a Philly New England 49ers or Dallas we have lost more than we won and are afraid to roll the dice on a qb only drafting certified backups the last 20 years lol

I'm just saying that when the carousel stops, we will be nothing more than a placeholder in the Carr sweepstakes. Yeah, we bought a ticket, but we didn't win the prize. Tired of being the bridesmaid and never the bride. DRAFT A QB! I say Hooker in the first just so I can see Mel Kipers head explode and everyone give us an F grade!!

Here we go again

Saints are best fit, Loomis has a # in mind, Carr’s agent wants more so we get a “slight lean” narrative leaked.

Will Loomis throw in a bit more cash to make it happen or will we watch another team swoop in with a “ridiculous offer” that the Candyland owner can’t refuse?

Stay tuned on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z

Even if the Saints go with a rookie. They will eventually have to pay him if he works out. A QB is a lot like buying a house. You complain about how expensive it is, but the longer you wait the more expensive it is. Underhill pointed out that if the Saints gave Carr $38 million, after the Burrow and Hurts contracts, that would put him in the middle of the pack, which is about right. QBs aren't cheap.

If the odds were better that a drafted QB would work out better, that's one thing. But, they're not.
I would be happy paying a guy that we drafted (unless it’s a Daniel Jones situation). I have no problem forking out big money for a game changing quarterback in that top ten range.

Like your real estate analogy, it’s all about location, location, location. Paying that money to a guy like Carr, is like paying St. Charles prices, for a Mid City location (I was born and raised in Mis City, so this isn’t a slight towards Mid City). It doesn’t make sense when you probably aren’t going to see the ROI that you are expecting.
