N/S Deshaun Watson Decision (UPDATE: League and PA agree to 11 games, $5M fine) (1 Viewer)

Not sure why you quoted me, or don't read every post... but I already addressed this. I have daughters. I taught them better than to solicit/peddle unlicensed "services" on social media platforms to male athletes... And if they were ever to be sexually assaulted/abused in any way... they sure would never accept hush money.... They'd drive the guy to prison personally.
I tend to think that if a crime was committed then you take that sucker to court. After you get your guilty verdict, then you go for the almighty dollar. You get that slug off the street first. In this case, there was not enough evidence for even a trial.... So I have to side with sure Watson has some weird fetishes, but to say rapist, etc. is not accurate.

Right.... This was never about proof, evidence, or putting a sexual criminal behind bars... this was always about sleezy lawyers, as many accusers as possible, the court of public opinion, and money money money...

Again, Watson is a sexual deviant and total slime ball... I am not defending his actions at all... But once you accept money in place of justice, or never actually seek justice (all 20+ of you)... You lose my sympathy... and most likely my benefit of the doubt as well.

U are correct. I kind of haphazardly chose your post to quote. I could not stomach reading 90 percent of the posts. We can raise our children, nurture them, etc. When they become adults, things often change.
With that being said, all of the tough ex NFL guys on TV "repping their brother in the trenches" would be singing a different tune if their daughter was involved. And I'm sure that not ALL of the 24 went into their sessions in hopes of being violated so that they could get a cash grab. We are a cold, jaded society, in general.

Nothing about the NFL shocks me anymore but this is just a little surprising. 6 games? That's a PED suspension. That's nothing.

This is the best case scenario for the Browns. The first 6 games on their schedule are manageable with the Panthers, Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, and Pats. Watson will return just in time to play the Ravens. The next week he makes his Cleveland home debut against the Bengals. Can't script it much better than that.
AND he gets to practice after the first 3 games!!! Wow

Man AK should only have to pay a fine to da court n to da NFL!

I think I may have shared my theory on this: Buzbee was working w/ the Texans to bury a couple (1 or 2) legit cases against Watson w/ the 24 other marginal cases. If Watson got caught on the legit cases, he would've been of no value to the Texans...so they went out and recruited 20 something other women who had marginal contact w/ Watson and a couple other with no real claim to block out what would've been 1 or 2 slam dunk criminal cases.

In the case of the NFL it can be appealed by either side to Goodell because it is part of the CBA.
I don’t think it would go to the NFL though because the NFL was a willing part of the arbitration. They agreed to the judge. I don’t think they have a leg to stand on with an appeal.

So your ok with your daughter, sister, mother, niece giving Watson a massage treatment.... got it.... Women just got a slap across the face for speaking up...
Nit defending Watson, but some of those ladies gave second appointments, rt? The league agreed to arbitration. On the criminal side, the guy wasn’t indicted by two separate grand juries, the makeups of which I’m sure included women. So please, let’s not go the OJ Simpson route. The Arbitrator, after looking at everything from both sides ruled six games. That should be it, no matter what the court of public opinion thinks. He’s already settled with 23/24 ladies. If they are satisfied, then move on. Hopefully, the young man will find a more moral way to satisfy his sexual appetite.

Another "happy ending" for Robert Kraft:

Says the man who got off scott free for hooking up with hookers at the owners meetings. SMH

Apples and oranges my friend. Depending on the Jurisdiction, prostitution is obviously illegal. But it's a consensual arrangement. It was victimless. I don't even understand how u can lump those two situations together.

It's the league's perpetual inability to keep their penalties consistent that people have the issue with. I agree with most of what u said. But on so many occasions, the league has levied stiffer penalties for similar or even less serious accusations. It's all a Work guys.

Again, the league could have stuck to its guns and not agreed to arbitration. It did and now should be made to abide by the decision. Who cares what Robert Kraft or anyone else has to say.

Except, morally in this case, Kraft comes across as a bit of a hypocrite or looks like one, in terms of analyzing his words or stances here. Also, if you've ever talked to some prostitutes, escorts, they'll tell you about the ever-present dangers of being introduced to drugs, physical or sexual abuse, long-term psychological self-image effects of being viewed by strangers, friends and families as a whore, slut, and how their collective judgmental views can lead to depression, suicide, certainly getting STD's or transmitting it to others.

Many prostitutes come from broken families, where their fathers abused them physically, sexually, or verbally, so no, while the agreement between a John and a prostitute might be consensual, quite a few of them are coerced or forced into that lifestyle or are horribly abused and depicted by our larger society and by the pimps who control or abuse them.

That doesn't quantify as victimless crimes. Even if prostitution were legal, they're still be considerable societal pitfalls to contend with even if their more manageable and controllable.

It is built into the CBA that Goodell is the appeals officer. He makes the final decision period.

I’m beginning to think Merl works for the NFL. Lol he seems to know it all, truly, not being a smart arse.

He's considered one of the most respected, successful, and savviest NFL owners who's won 6 SB's and played in 9, overall since he became sole, majority owner of the Patriots in 1994, his reputation, while questionable to some people like me, still is seen as highly respected, and taken with a lot more consideration and respect.

This isn't a case of an eccentric, meglamanical idiotic owner like Jerry Jones mouthing off just to see how much free publicity he can attain, Kraft has done and achieved more over the course of his ownership tenure then what Jones and perhaps 90% of the other NFL owners have done in the past 30 years.
