Guilty or not this a flawed attitude, particularly in civil cases where the burden of proof is substantially lighter.

I have settled a case where I was clearly in the right but it wasnt worth my time or money to fight further with my landlord.

You also weren’t settling 24 sexual assault allegations, while having millions of dollars (and I guarantee you he paid a few million to each settlement)

He said from the start he would never settle no matter what and wanted to clear his name.

Of course he can but will he ? There are always ways to avoid things if the right people are behind you. I am sure he will see something but it won't be near what he deserves. I bet it's 3 games 6 tops and that's just as good as getting away Scott free.

I have ZERO faith in the NFL doing the right thing, but they essentially have Bill Cosby in his prime doing his thing might just let it go since he paid $.

I think he is going to get a long suspension.

I also think that the NFL should not be happy with the way the Browns and agent structured Watson's contract. Even a year suspension will not hurt his wallet.

I think maybe the NFL is evaluating the best way to impose a long session that will impose a bigger financial penalty. I don't know how they can do it besides giving Watson more than a year suspension.

But I think the Washington mess can benefit Watson, no way the NFLPA will not complain if Watson has a hefty suspension now that Snyder received only a tip on the hand for the team's behaviour.

Whatever happens in the end, the league will look bad.

Imagine if the Saints had signed him and he gets a one year suspension... not only would the team had mortgaged the future, but the present as well. And you definitely would not be comfortable with a guy that has this kind of power trip issues.

He doesn't want to kick this can. If he is going to be suspended he wants it to be this season when his contract is only a million bucks. The fact Cleveland would do that to help him with his money is all you need to know about them. Enabling. He will miss half a season minimum IMO.

A veteran minimum salary on the first year of a long term contract is a standard throughout the league in order to reduce the first years cap hit. There was nothing "fishy" with this deal.

He probably has a good chance of being suspended but I am not going to pre-ponder guilt based on settlement.

Here is what I believe to be true...(you are free to believe what you want to believe)...

My opinion and your opinion of his guilt matter little.

Justice was served amicably to the 20 (+1) parties who settled relative to the strength of their legal position and the desire to resolve things with alacrity.

For the other 4 you can be certain that they feel they have something to gain by not settling and that Watson believes he has little chance in court of losing anything further than offered.

True ...flawed is a given but stupid can be a choice too but for the majority it's just a human trait they are born with.

He has the money to afford any high class escort where there out come is agreed upon. This is probably some twisted fetish that he gets off on more than anything it probably goes beyond pleasure and is more about control and dominance because it is what rapists thrive on. He obviously doesn't respect women.

Being "thirsty" can and does override a LARGE degree of rational thinking. Add to that the mentality and ego and feeling of being untouchable (pun intended) of being a celebrated sports figure, and you get... well, pretty much this.

Not in civil cases. You'll often settle rather than go through the time and expense of litigation.
