The rivalry between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints is built on competition and hatred for one another.

And this game always seems to have some of the most unusual things happen since the Saints started playing the Falcons back in 1967.

But in Sunday’s game, the swerve came before the game was even played.

When Saints quarterback Drew Brees went down last week against the San Francisco 49ers due to a rib/lung injury, Sean Payton didn’t hesitate a second to put in Jameis Winston in the second half of the 49ers game.

Virtually every one of us fans, media, and even Saints players thought that Winston would get the starting nod versus the Falcons at quarterback.

As the week went by more and more the word had gotten out that Taysom Hill was getting the majority of snaps with the first-team unit and reports are that the former BYU quarterback will make his first NFL regular-season start versus the Falcons Sunday.

Saints head coach Sean Payton has not confirmed the report, nor has he denied it either.
