Cin. was giving a 4th & 5th for him, he didn't want to redo his contract. Maybe he did not to paly for Cin. A 4th & 5th are cheap if he would redo his deal for us,then we could take bpa in the draft.

Two problems with that:

1. We don't have a fourth-round pick (Vilma), which means we'd have to give up more for DR.
2. DR's really not that great. Is he better than what we have? Probably (not definitely), but is it worth giving up even more than his market value *and* re-doing his deal?

if u look him upon rotoworld the bengal wanted him but backed out of the trade because of a bone on bone condition in the knee i dont want someone who has that condition

Good point. But my thinking was if we got him we could trade down in the 1st to pick up extra picks and then get bpa. We aready know he is fairly good DT and I guess from our past picks we don't know how Dorsey or Elllis will trun out. I would hate to see another Sullivan pick. And a CB in bottom of 1st would be better than at 10.

The Saints need to upgrade their DTs. Robertson would be more of a lateral move (and a very expensive lateral move in terms of draft picks and salary). Robertson is a younger version of Hollis Thomas but he isn't willing to renegotiate his current ridicously high contract. I'm gambling that new Saints DL coach, Ed Ogreron, can find a Robertson/Hollis Thomas type of NT in the later rounds of the draft (if Dorsey and Ellis are already off the board at #10).

He has had the bone on bone condition since 2005. It does not yet appear to be serious. He even had his best year statistically last year in a scheme (34) that he does not fit either by any means-- body type and skill set. I think he would be a great fit on our team in the 43, and I think we will wait till he is cut and bid with Cincinatti for his services then.

If he wasn't so expensive contract-wise, it'd probably be worth it. But if he won't re-do the deal, no way. Too much money for a partial bust.

Robertson Is Another Underachiving Fat Guy. Names Like Sullivan, Jackson , Hand Come To Mind. We Need Young Playmakers On Defense.

why dont we have a 4th rounder this year, i thought the pick for vilma was a 2009 pick.
(per nfl transactions?)

Oh, Left Hollis Thomas Off Of The List. He's Just One Po-boy Away From Unemployment.

They were talking about his knee condition on Sirius the other day. Chances are that the Jets are going to cut him at some point this offseason, because teams aren't going to be willing to trade for him with this new information coming out and given his salary this coming season.

The bone on bone condition means that he has absolutely no cartlidge left in his knee, which is essentially what forced Curtis Martin to retire! It may not affect him so much right now, but it will definitely limit his ability in the future! You don't trade a draft pick or pay a high salary for a player with that much risk.

If the Jets cut him, then I think it would be worth it to take a look for a short term fix (1-2 seasons) but I wouldn't sign him to a long term deal worth much money!
