Best show on T.V. When does season 3 start?
I've been looking but can't find anything. I would have to assume a fall comeback (Sept maybe?) it's hard to tell with the writers strike.

A buddy of mine told me about this show. So the shows that have been airing on cbs are from the first season? I think the show is great and is on par with my favorites the sopranos, the wire, and lost.

Yeah thats season 1. I'm hooked and i still don't know who the ice truck killer is :idunno:

For fans of the show who want to read the books, start with "Darkly Dreaming Dexter", which is the basis for season 1 of the series. Then, "Dearly Devoted Dexter" is the 2nd book of the three.

Yep. And let me clarify my statement above...

Season 1 was indeed based on that book, but then the show diverges from the next 2 and is not based on them at all. So reading books 2 & 3 is all new material different from the show just as Season 2 is all new material different from the books. :9:

Wow, I wonder what made then dive off and do their own thing? I figured they'd follow the books and then go and do their own thing.

Two different sets of material makes for more gross sales. :)

People who have read the books might not be so likely to watch/buy the DVDs or subscribe to Showtime and vice-versa if they covered the same stuff.

But Dexter fans are now more likely to spend $$$ on both media, since they are different, rather than choose. Meanwhile, Jeff Lindsay is sticking close to the series and making sure it fits the look & feel of the books. And, if Season 2 is any indication, it is a successful approach.

That said, they don't follow each other. Without spoiling Season 2, there are some character ARCs that occur in the series that do not occur in the books. The cool thing about knowing that is that you know that the books will not spoil future seasons if you read them. :9:

Dexter is the best thing on TV right now, no doubt.

I totally agree. It is not my "cup of tea" but the episodes that I have seen are very well done.

My wife will not miss a week. Sometimes she watches and records it so she can come back and see it again.

The complete first year is out on DVD. It is very inexpensive.

I even liked the character when he was on Six Feet Under.

I was thinking season one only had a couple of more episodes but I checked the website yesterday and there is like 6 more. I think i might just have to go rent season one so i can finish before the tourney starts.

Wow. keeps getting better and better. Last nights show was good. I did not see that coming. I need to speed this thing up though.
