Did Covid cost us the playoffs too? (1 Viewer)

Covid didn't make us lose the Falcons, Panthers, Titans, Eagles, Bills or Cowboys.

So no Covid didn't make us miss the playoffs. The Rams didn't make us miss the playoffs, the 49ers didn't make us miss the playoffs.

Losing our QB and having a JV offensive line and our Dline being injured most of the season made us miss the playoffs.

Edit: In fact every team pretty much had a covid outbreak during the season... so once again. Covid did not make us miss the playoffs.
Yet, in spite of all those losses, when we played Miami, we were in the driver's seat to get into the playoffs. Had the season ended before the Miami game, we make the playoffs.

It all matters, yes, but at the point we lost the last playoff spot is what matters most imo. But to each his own.

It wasn't the sole reason but it was certainly one of many. Paulson Adebo making a mistake against Atlanta, Will Lutz missing the whole year, McCoy and Ram missing multiple games, Michael Thomas, all of those things, a bunch of others cost us the playoffs. Anyone of those things not happening could very well have made the difference.

So any one of those things could be said to have cost us "one more win". In the end it doesn't really matter.

Sidelining players who test positive for covid, some of the most finely conditioned athletes on the planet, is ridiculous and stupid.

Let alone 22 of them at the same time. Crazy. Still bugs me that the week prior 3 games were postponed for the exact same reason.

I really think they should have allowed asymptomatic players play. But ultimately they were all subject to the same rules. The problem to me was the uneven treatment the Saints got compared to the the week prior.

Yeah. A lot!
As Michael Corleone once said "It's just business". It's every NFL owners motto.

He's talking about the game in 2020 in the Dome when there were no fans. Saints lost that game.

once again, both sides are right. We would have kicked the dolphins arse with a totally healthy team. It's still not
an excuse to lose to the Giants

Sure, it's not. But then, that happens to most teams every season. The question is were we consistent enough to avoid too many of them. Arguably, aside from the Miami game, the answer should be yes.

Just consider, two other favored teams lost their playoff berths by losing their last game, Chargers to the Raiders and Colts to Jags. They arguably had no excuse to lose those games either.

Moving the Saints game back one day would not have changed who came off the list. It didn't really change anything for the games that they did postpone either. So....
Actually, TS and Hill both came off the list the following day. So one day would have made a difference. 2 would definitely made a difference since several came off the following day as well. Whether that would have changed the outcome is obviously debatable. I think it would have, but there's no way to prove either.
