My ballot for the Pro Football Writers Association/Pro Football Weekly postseason awards aren't' due until Jan. 5, but I thought I would offer a sneak peek of my ballot:

Overall NFL Most Valuable Player, Offensive MVP: Drew Brees, QB New Orleans. First of all, I don't agree with how PFWA/PFW does this, because the overall MVP has to be either your Offensive MVP or your Defensive MVP, too. Brees will likely be the NFL's overall MVP, and San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson will likely be the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year, per their official awards which start rolling out next week.

But on this ballot, I can't split my vote, so I'm giving the nod to Brees. Before you lose it -- yes, LT's season is once in a lifetime kind of stuff -- take a look at Brees' numbers. Brees leads the NFL in passing yards (4,372), has 26 touchdowns against 11 interceptions and is second in quarterback rating with a 96.1. More importantly, Brees' play has energized not just his team, but his entire community, a jolt of adrenaline that New Orleans needed so badly after Hurricane Katrina. Full Story - Sun-Herald
