Do not let Ed Reed leave New Orleans without a contract! (merged) (1 Viewer)

It would be nice if people who started threads like this one knew certain things:

1) Ed Reed is still under contract with the Ravens. Talking to him at this time would amount to possibly losing yet another draft pick; it's called tampering. There is NO WAY the Saints could have signed him.

2) The Saints are in cap Hell. Ed Reed would fit under the cap if the Saints chose to cut loose some of the team's best players. No way am I ready to lose three good players for one aging player. (He will be 35 this year.)

3) Those getting their hopes up that the Saints could afford to go after him once he DOES become a free agent are just setting themselves up for disappointment and a heavy dose of playing the blame game.

Why would anyone want a 35 year old player? You folks must have LOVED some of the coaches of the past. They would go out and sign these big name players who were in the twilight of their careers. Might as well get Benson to sell the team back to John Mecom and call Bum Phillips to take over as HC.

Add to the mix that Pat Y at ESPN thinks it would be a good idea, and it becomes apparent what the Saints should do: move on. This is all fan speculation, sort of like fantasy football. Getting Ed Reed and hoping he remains healthy enough to play next season is pure fantasy.

Don't ever let facts get in the way of a good wet dream!:mwink: Loomis should have walked up to him in the midst of his celebrating and asked for his Autograph!!!:hihi: :hihi:

Pat Y is talking about this now:

Would Ed Reed fit with Saints?
February, 4, 2013

NEW ORLEANS -- Now that the Super Bowl is over, it’s time to start thinking about the offseason.

Free agency doesn’t start until mid-March, but we might as well start the speculation process. And we might as well start it with an intriguing piece of speculation.

Actually former New Orleans quarterback and current WWL Radio host Bobby Hebert started it when I joined his show last week. Hebert asked for my thoughts on the Saints pursuing Baltimore safety Ed Reed, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.
