I do. But it seems like every time I do I end up drinking a few gnats. I hate it when one hits me right in the uvula and makes me gag.

Anyways... I like cabs. What is a good dryer cab for under 25 bucks? I was drinking this stuff called Freakshow but I can't find it anymore.

A few of our Finger Lakes wines:

Turns out that upstate NY has the right soil for growing grapes. Who'd a thunk it?

Freak show is a pretty limited production project by a couple of Nola people. They literally only make 2 barrels or so. If you like that, you can try just about any Napa cab in the same price range. Or save s few dollars and get a paso Robles Cabernet. I think you will like that style.

I guess it depends on what you like in a Cab. For my money, it's hard to beat a Fransican if you are going to that 25$ range. Never had the Freakshow tho.

Try Horrowshow, by the Vending Machine Winery. I think it's about $20. (It's a blend, but primarily Cab, I think). In fact all of their wines are good, though the other two (Crooked Mayor and Double Shotgun) are a little pricier. I haven't tried the white.

Really? I didn't know that. I wonder if we're talking about the same wine? This was about 18 bucks a bottle. If they only made 2 barrels, wouldn't it be much more expensive? I'm pretty new to drinking wines so I will try just about anything someone recommends.

I was confused with the Cabernet. Horror show is actually a non cab blend that is produced in about 200 case, which is still only about 10 barrels. Try something like Troublemaker blend or Cline Cashmere.

Cashmere is a Rhone blend, while good and in his price range, not a Cab blend.

Neither is the horror show, which he likes and is asking about. I'm looking at warm climate, good extraction with a little spice and not too tough on the tannins and acid. Cashmere used petit syrah instead of syrah this vintage. I think it will fit the taste profile. But maybe not. It will be a bit less alcoholic than something like the vending machine wines.
