Speculation Do you think Jalen Hurts would be a good 3rd Rd pick by the Saints? (1 Viewer)

During His college career he had a good completion percentage capped off with a 70 percent number last year with Oklahoma.

Also he threw for 80 career TDs against 20 Ints. Hurts also has good scrambling ability.

Compared to someone like Herbert, Hurts college career is way more impressive. The few times I saw Hebert play I wasn't too enamored by his games.

No way. They only way I would take him is if he fell all the way to the 5th which will likely not happen. I would only take Jacob Eason if he were available in the 3rd. Maybe I would take Fromm in the 3rd/4th if coach sees something he likes, but he will likely not be there.

1st: Jordan Love - if he fell to 24 and we took him I would be upset if Murray, Queen, or Baun were available. But if coach thinks he can be something close to Mahomes than I’m fine with it.

3rd: Jacob Eason - he is one of the guys I want the most in the 3rd if he makes it that far. I don’t think it’s totally out of the question that he won’t be there.

4th: Jake Fromm - not a big fan, but like Love if coach thinks he can be the starter we need I’ll be fine with it here or in the 3rd

5th: Jalen Hurts, James Morgan, or Steven Montez: if one of these guys make it to the 5th and we take him I’ll be fine with it like Love & Fromm

6th: Anthony Gordon: he might not make it this far but he’s someone I like late and possibly in the 5th if coach likes him.

After those 7 guys with Burrow, Tua, & Herbert I really don’t see anyone I would want to draft. They have some I wouldn’t mind picking up as UDFAs to compete, but after those 10 I don’t really want to waste a pick on one.

Only if he’s agreeable to playing a Swiss-army knife role like Taysom. If he’s stuck on “I’m a QB only” then no way.

Most QBs that would be a concern. Best example Tebow. Everything in Hurts career indicates he is a team player and will do whatever role is needed from him.

Not his press conferences and interviews. He seems pretty resistant to the idea of switching positions even temporarily.

Sorry, no dice. He's been exposed against good teams for the limited signal caller he is. His games against lesser opposition aren't true determinants of how he'll fare against NFL level defenses and coaches.

I believe that he would be a fantastic pick. He and Taysom Hill would be similar, but the question would be which is most likely the the backup to Brees and possible starter next year. It could allow more flexibility in the usage of Taysom this year as well.

People want to compare him to Taysom, but he’s no Taysom. He doesn’t have the elite speed of Taysom to begin with as Taysom is one of the fastest players on our team.

I would probably compare Virginia’s Bryce Perkins more to Taysom since he’s closer to a 4.5 guy as Hurts is closer to a 4.6. Some team will likely draft Perkins to play a Taysom kind of role just on offense though lol

But we don’t need a Taysom since we already have him.

That's what I think too. He seems lost when his protection breaks down or everyone is covered. Active LB's stop the big runs he had in college against lesser competition, so I see him as a project.

He seems like a good kid, would love to have him in some capacity.
