I've argued for splitting the QB work load between Drew and Taysom. When Drew is on fire there is none better. Taysom is another gear in the transmission when Drew starts to bog down.

That said. do you think the Saints have a moral obligation to give Drew a farewell season, or two, even if the team is weaker for it? Every new Drew contract means taking an axe to future cap limits. This year we start with a Drew cap hit of around 20 million even if we don't resign him.

The saints salary structure is out of whack. If this keeps up, deferred payments will bury us in just a few years.

Let Drew sign a big pay day with another team and reset the salary clock with Taysom for 40 million over 3 years with 20 million guaranteed.

No one knows better than Drew Brees how quickly the value of a player drops when he can no longer make the plays needed to cover his expenses to the team. But I think you may be jumping the gun a bit on this thought. Drew isn't 'cattle feed' all of a sudden. He is still a winner and still leading his team to victories at a good clip right now.

Archive this pity thread until Brees actually needs it.

Love how literally the day before the playoff game this forum was nothing but "Brees has another 2 good years left, we'd be crazy to let him leave" and now ya'll are ready to put him in a catapult and try to launch him into the sun :smilielol:

No....the FO and coaching staff has to do whatever is the best interests of the team.

And BTW, this is not what is going on if we bring Brees back....it is really silly to think that....

Every team does this. It’s not a big deal. If you keep pushing someone’s salary to next year it’s ok because next year never comes. Eventually we will be down, when we are you can start to eliminate some of those debts. Y’all are acting like we’re the only team that does this.
