We may not be as great, but we’ll still be really good as long as Sean Payton’s our coach.

Those 2014 to 2016 seasons, I felt there were a little bit of apathy with fans. I was a little concern and bothered to the fact that some fans were getting bored or didn't care for the team during its hard times. In fact I read or heard Payton thought about moving on after 2015. I wasn't ready to give up and glad I didn't. The question I have is if we do go through years of mediocrity, will fans be patient? How patient and how much will fan invest in the team?Honestly I've thought we were done back in 2016. We were coming off of three straight 7-9 seasons and it looked like the ride with Drew was nearing the end. In the five seasons from '12 to '16 we only had one winning season. So to me these last four years of dominant football have been like the cherry on top.
We're probably going to fall back to the 7 win range for a year or two unless Winston is legit. If he's legit then anything is possible.
Collins was actually a really good QB when could stay sober. Being an alcoholic living in N.O. just isn't a good combination. Everett was average. The Billy Joe's, that was just some horrible talent evaluation from Mike Ditka. Sadly, when he came to us he could no longer evaluate talent. I mean Danny Wuerfule, the Billy Joe's, Heath Shuler, Troy Davis, pretty much anyone he drafted except for Ricky who he drastically over paid for.I have been getting a Kerry Collins/Jim Everett vibe from the QB position and sometimes fear a Billy Joel situation. But other than concerns about filling the defensive holes correctly in the draft, I still feel pretty good overall about the team.
This ^. I've always said, it's about the voyage, not the destination. I'm actually more excited this year than I have been in years past.I'm actually excited to see what happens next. I have no expectations so if we fall back, I'll understand completely. If we do well, I'll be happy and pleasantly surprised.
It will be a nice break on my nerves after the past couple of years because we were loaded and every loss and injury and ref blunder and Jared Cook fumble destroyed me.
