Don’t you dare blame Jameis (2 Viewers)

Carr went out and the playcalling went straight to "not to lose" mode...throw in some timely Penning penalties and a directive to play it safe...it was a perfect storm proving that Dennisball doesn't work.

Jameis put together a drive at the end that had us in position to win....kicker missed, sheet happens....not his fault.
TP had a false start, the holding call on him was BS , even Deuce said so. TP actually played a pretty good game today, no sacks a couple pressures, he did have a bit of a whiff on a run play but overall not bad for his 4th game starting

If you're comparing how much they had to deal with that was the same, let's look at one key difference: number of practice reps with the first team. That's a factor as well, and Jameis was starting to warm up that last drive, which was no small feat with that offensive line.

I'd rather have Carr in there, no doubt. But Jameis went in and performed as most backup QB's would do who are thrown into the game due to an injury to the starter; it takes time to get into the rhythm, especially when the O-line is not allowing much of a rhythm to happen. I don't think he deserves any blame in this one, quite frankly. Now after a week with starter reps, then I expect more. But this week, no.
Umm…one of those QB’s has been with this team and in the system since 2020. The other just got here. I want Jameis to ball out, but I’m also tired of the incessant excuses for his play, whenever we lose w/him at the helm. He was not primarily the reason we lost, but he absolutely had a role.

It’s ridiculous to not have salted away that game when we were up 17-0 going into the 4th Q. Even one scoring drive would’ve likely secured the win. No way, if the roles were reversed, would this many people be saying Carr was totally blameless for not even getting us near the red zone in nearly two quarters of play. Jameis has blame to carry in this loss. He’s been in this system too long for people to keep harping on the system not being catered to him. He‘s not our QB1, he’s our backup. As a backup you either learn the system or you bounce. And he’s been our backup QB longer than he’s been our starter.

At some point, JW’s defenders and his detractors need to find a way to objectively evaluate his play. Jameis wasn’t the sole reason we lost, but he definitely didn’t help us win. If people were honest with themselves, most of us would readily admit had Carr finished the game, we likely win comfortably—given how the defense was playing with an offense that could move the chains. The entire team seemed to lose hope when Carr went down. Hopefully, they rebound next week. But for today, Carr’s loss was felt & neither JW(nor the team) had the ability to rise above the adversity.

If he was brand new to the system, I might agree with you. But he’s not. No reason for him to jump in the game and not be able to hit the broad side of a barn.
OMG thank you. People are talking like it was Haener, a rookie, and not an 8 year vet with three seasons in our system, who took over. There’s no reason Jameis should’ve felt out of sorts coming into that game. If that’s the case, then he has no business being in the league. He’s had more time in the system than Carr and has played behind most of that line longer than Carr. What are we doing with these excuses?

Eh, my only prob was when he had a chance to scramble and didn’t take it. Doubt the coaches tell him just sit back if a lane open up.

Other than that, let’s see what he can do after a week of prep and planning that suits what Winston is all about.

The line is really a problem. You can have Brees back there and he’s struggle.
Yes he should have taken off , he had the 1st easy. He made some good throws but also some poor decisions and bad throws

I've been a fan of JW since college. He has abilities, but unfortunately they solely based on a clean pocket. The difference between him his first yr at fsu and his second. No line. A clean pocket he can ball, but it's the NFL , so in the NFL you need to have that ball out in 2.5 seconds. I hope for this team, they find a way to implement plays with 2 step drop and pass. Kamara back will help. His first NFL Game in TB was against Tenn. Koetter failed him by dialing plays that take too much time. He's not completely inept but Pete needs to work with his strengths and also run the freaking ball. Play action is his game
Give an NFL QB lots of time in a clean pocket and he will succeed, what a novel idea. SMH

Winston has been on this team since 2020 but this system has not been the same:
-2020 - CSPs system built around Drew
-2021 - CSPs system that he began to Winston
-2022 - Whatever Sneaky Pete threw out there
-2023 - Whatever Sneaky Pete threw out there but for Carr..lol (motion?)

The only thing that probably translates is the terminology but he basically had to learn a new offense each season he has been here. CSP offense and Sneaky Pete’s offense are not the same and truthfully, not even close.

The defense set him up in the red zone repeatedly in that game.
Not really. That lie has been told so much we made it truth. We had 6 scoring drives and only 2 of them came off turnovers and with a short field. Matter of fact, the score was 17-3 before the first turnover and we owned ToP in the first half.

Your risk-it-biscuit man will be a busted-flusted guy with the way the O line is playing. But the 13 wins comment bothers me, are you not taking your meds again bud?
In 2019, there are 4 games that you can lay at Jameis feet and be like "yeah, most of this is on him."

The other 12 games, Jameis averaged 322 yards per game on 63% passing. He threw 28TDs/14INTs with a 99.6 passer rating and the Bucs averaged 31.5 points a game.

Maybe you don't know what you think you know...lol

Why are we talking about 2019 in 2023?

I....for the life of me don't understand why a good number of posters here can't grasp the concept of DA and Pete changing the offensive objective of the game once Carr went down...we went from trying to score to trying to just chew clock...short safe throws with high completion probability....keep the clock moving.

The very first drive we got within reasonable field goal range...but DA being the conservative coach he is...chose the safe play...the punt.

The 2nd drive got derailed by O line penalties...you know that same O line everyone was 💩 ing on all afternoon...but nah...now its Jameis' fault the O can't move.

When we wanted/needed him to move the ball...a.k.a. the last possession, he did...until we got within fg range then we went right back to the "we gotta play it safe mode"...which led to us having to kick from 46 (totally makeable)

Effed up part is that if Grupe made the kick....we'd be having this same stupid freaking argument like we ain't ever go 3 and out under Carr...wanna hear something funny, we went damn near 3 and out 4 consecutive times Last freaking week and not a peep was said about it:

But it's only okay when it's your guy right? There shouldn't be a my guy/your guy/their guy.

some of yall make me sick.

The problem is coaching/playcalling...always has been, offense ain't look better under Carr...it's the same 💩
