Don’t you dare blame Jameis (3 Viewers)

In 2019, there are 4 games that you can lay at Jameis feet and be like "yeah, most of this is on him."

The other 12 games, Jameis averaged 322 yards per game on 63% passing. He threw 28TDs/14INTs with a 99.6 passer rating and the Bucs averaged 31.5 points a game.

Maybe you don't know what you think you know...lol
STATS LIE, ESPECIALLY IN FOOTBALL

I....for the life of me don't understand why a good number of posters here can't grasp the concept of DA and Pete changing the offensive objective of the game once Carr went down...we went from trying to score to trying to just chew clock...short safe throws with high completion probability....keep the clock moving.

The very first drive we got within reasonable field goal range...but DA being the conservative coach he is...chose the safe play...the punt.

The 2nd drive got derailed by O line penalties...you know that same O line everyone was 💩 ing on all afternoon...but nah...now its Jameis' fault the O can't move.

When we wanted/needed him to move the ball...a.k.a. the last possession, he did...until we got within fg range then we went right back to the "we gotta play it safe mode"...which led to us having to kick from 46 (totally makeable)

Effed up part is that if Grupe made the kick....we'd be having this same stupid freaking argument like we ain't ever go 3 and out under Carr...wanna hear something funny, we went damn near 3 and out 4 consecutive times Last freaking week and not a peep was said about it:

But it's only okay when it's your guy right? There shouldn't be a my guy/your guy/their guy.

some of yall make me sick.

The problem is coaching/playcalling...always has been, offense ain't look better under Carr...it's the same 💩
Great breakdown bro!! Their personal issue and bias against Jameis will block them from seeing the truth anyways

STATS LIE, ESPECIALLY IN FOOTBALL
I guess you missed the fact that they averaged 31.5 points a game those 12 games. The scoreboard doesn’t lie. They went 7-5 those 12 games and lost 4 of them due to their defense and kicking. (Giants, 1st game vs us, Seahawks, and 2nd Falcons).

Stats only lie when you don’t have the context to explain them. That’s why I can say “no risk it, no biscuit” Winston and this defense wins 13 games.

Winston has been on this team since 2020 but this system has not been the same:
-2020 - CSPs system built around Drew
-2021 - CSPs system that he began to Winston
-2022 - Whatever Sneaky Pete threw out there
-2023 - Whatever Sneaky Pete threw out there but for Carr..lol (motion?)

The only thing that probably translates is the terminology but he basically had to learn a new offense each season he has been here. CSP offense and Sneaky Pete’s offense are not the same and truthfully, not even close.
Backup QB’s don’t get systems built around them. They learn the system that’s there. Most of the years you listed, Jameis was a backup. It’s the backup‘s job to learn how to implement the system with the pieces around him. Furthermore, this board routinely dragged PC for not evolving past CSP‘s system last year. That was one of the main reasons people hated his playcalling; they felt it was stale and had too much of our older system. So, how can Pete’s system be vastly different from Sean, when most of the fans (and I’d wager many players as well) felt it was the same?

You’re making a ton of excuses for Jameis. He’s worked with Pete since he’s gotten here. He’s familiar with most of the players on offense. Acting like it’s normal for him to be overwhelmed going into a regular season game after being w/a team for three years is crazy to me.

The man did his job , Gruppe didn’t
Doing his job means icing the game. He had a quarter and a half to do that. Grupe failed at his job and so did Winston. You’re assuming we win w/Gruppe’s kick. Folks seem to forget even if he’d made it, we left way too much time on the clock for GB to have it’s own last minute drive. And the way those refs were handing out PI’s on our D, best believe they’d have gotten a comfortable shot at both the end zone and a chip shot FG.

Winston isn’t primarily responsible, but he has blame to carry as well. You can’t keep going 3& out and putting the defense on the field, cause you can’t move the chains, chew clock, & secure one or two more scores. This was a team loss and JW had his part in it.

This loss is not on Winston, but I'm puzzled at the outrage in this thread from some people, "don't you dare blame Jameis!" Is the OP his mother? Mrs Winston are you there?
Yeah.. people are too dug in on this side or that side of everything Jameis and it's pretty annoying from all of them. Too many personal vendettas and crap caught up in all of it.
...
Jameis shouldn't be the one to shoulder the blame for this loss but I do think losing Carr affected the team mentally to a point that in and of itself is a big reason as to why we lost.

Obviously we had not been playing great on offense but we were 2-0 and up 17 to 0 at Lambeau.. all of us could feel that it was playing out different than last year even with the offensive line issues and all.. and then bam, Carr gets injured and we are immediately back to about where we were last year when we found ways to lose these games.

The air went out of our sails and things started spinning in the wrong direction when we didn't have the captain at the helm whom the team believed in.

We could have and should have still won that game.. but we didn't and it's hard to disconnect it from the Carr injury.

5 three and outs in a row is what gassed the defense. Not saying this loss is on JW but he didn't help matters.
That I put squarely on Pete Carmichael.

He neutered Jameis Winston with the lackluster play calling.

Once he realized we needed a drive to win the game , notice how things started flowing for Jameis.

Jameis behind this offensive line is a terrifying thought.

He played really well today given the circumstances, but I I have no faith in him or Pete. Teams are going to blitz us just like last year and we’ll have no answer.
Yep. Expect 10 sacks next week. Winston has horrible pocket presence and caves under pressure. It won't be pretty

Who is making an excuse. You are saying that he has played in the same system and I’m telling you that he hasn’t and anyone could see that. He had to learn a new offense 3 straight seasons. Saying he has been in this system 4 years is an incorrect statement

And who was overwhelmed? He came into the game cold and proceeded to get horrible play calling from Sneaky Pete (probably under DA's orders). Seems like the way some of yall look at the game changes based on who the QB is. Lol
