Don’t you dare blame Jameis (3 Viewers)

If Grupe makes the kick, we still lose. I didn't like when we had a couple 3rd and shorts we throw 15 yard passes. 5 yard passes to get the 1st is all you need. We quit even trying to run in the 4th. Got to keep trying.
Maybe. Maybe not. We’ll never know.

This sounds like a rehearsed speech knowing that eventually Carr would get hurt behind that line. Jameis had a couple of decent throws and a couple of off ones. He should be credited for not sucking horribly coming in mid game. But lets not pretend we're going to get better with him at QB going forward. The team got much worse when Carr went down.

Derek Carr as starting QB: 17 points.

Jameis Winston as starting QB: 0 points.

Same coordinators. Same offensive line. Same receivers. Same defense. Same temperature on the field. Same wind gusts. Same astrophysical positioning of Neptune and company.

Make all the excuses you want.

The reality is that we scored 0 points with Jameis at QB. He’s not solely to blame, obviously. But he is absolutely not absolved of blame altogether.
If you're comparing how much they had to deal with that was the same, let's look at one key difference: number of practice reps with the first team. That's a factor as well, and Jameis was starting to warm up that last drive, which was no small feat with that offensive line.

I'd rather have Carr in there, no doubt. But Jameis went in and performed as most backup QB's would do who are thrown into the game due to an injury to the starter; it takes time to get into the rhythm, especially when the O-line is not allowing much of a rhythm to happen. I don't think he deserves any blame in this one, quite frankly. Now after a week with starter reps, then I expect more. But this week, no.

Jameis was not the primary reason we lost this game. Probably not the secondary reason.

Primary was playcalling. Yes, the Oline sucked. But Carr scored 17 points with the same oline that Winston did jack sheet with.
No, he scored 10. Shaheed had a punt return TD. Carr hasn't put up 20 points in a game all season, has only 2 TDs and 2 INTs in 10 full quarters, while getting sacked a whopping 12 times.

Hey, we don't do nuance here.

Cool , now imagine had Winston played like trash. We probably lose by 10

1. Pete can’t call a game to save his life anymore. He didn’t open up the playbook until he absolutely had to , putting way too much strain on our defense and opening the door for the packers to comeback.

2. Our Offensive lineman are among the leagues worst collection of any group in the NFL.

3. Derek Carr got himself hurt holding onto the ball. He doesn’t have all day and unfortunately it seems to be effective , he needs it.

4. Jameis contrary to popular opinion started to COOK. Clutch throw after clutch throw taking us down the field for what should’ve been the game winning FG.

I’m on the record saying if Carr is going to perform this way , we are better off betting on Jameis Winston’s upside with these receivers.

What I did notice … As soon as Jameis comes in the game … A wide open Michael Thomas appears .

Again Jameis won us that game , Gruppe lost it shortly thereafter.

Do not be surprised if Jameis has to takeover for Carr , and doesn’t look back. If Geno Smith can have a resurgence, then Jameis can certainly have one with this offensive group.
Jameis did ok. No run game or blocking.whoever stands back there is a dead man

That was a COMPLETE and total organizational meltdown today. I honestly can’t find someone not to blame lol

If he was brand new to the system, I might agree with you. But he’s not. No reason for him to jump in the game and not be able to hit the broad side of a barn.
