The Saints pick tenth in the first, but why do they pick ninth in the second round and then fifteenth in the third round, then fourteenth in the fourth(traded to Jets), eleventh in the fifth round? Seems like they would pick the same in each round, not counting trades of course. It looks like the 7-9 teams are sort of rotating picks.

I dont know for a fact but if I had to guess, I think the 2nd round/9th pick is due to the Pats losing thier 1st rounder and the others are due to compensatory picks awarded to other teams.

I asked the same question a while back and the answer I was told is that because of a tie between so many teams at 7-9, we rotate with a couple of other teams. We pick 10, 9, 11 etc. in various rounds because they move the teams around that are tied.
