what are the chances we take Barkley, Nassib or Renefree if one of them is still available when we select in the 5th? or do we wait on a QB choice until next year, or even 2015? at some point we need a legitimate heir apparent to learn from Drew..... when do we start looking?

At this rate we might as well get one as a UDFA. It may not be one of the guys you mentioned, but those guys are pushing other guys down.

I don't think we have the luxury of picking a back-up/project quarterback.

I PRAY the Saints draft Barkley. The guy has the intangibles. There is nothing about the guy that makes me believe he will fail in the NFL, especially with the Saints. As for his arm/shoulder injury and lack of an arm, well I would say the Saints have had great success with a guy who didn't have a strong arm and suffered a supposedly serious arm/shoulder injury.

I'm not saying the Saints should draft Barkley because his story parallels Drew's story. What I am saying is that I would feel great about the Saints drafting Barkley simply because he doesn't strike me as the type of person who is going to fail because he's lazy, unmotivated, a poor leader, or simply unintelligent. Well, playing for Lane Kiffen and not entering the draft last year makes me question his intelligence; however, I think you all understand what I am trying to say.

We only have two picks left and need a WR, TE, OT, and OLB. A QB would be a wasted pick.

Nassib > Barkley IMO. If a qb is the bpa then I'm all for it. Our scouts have shown that they typically know what they're doing late in the draft.

Don't care what QB we pick. If Payton and the scouts have one ranked high enough to take, then go for it. If not, get one as a UDFA.

Right now we're going for homeruns on potential or small schools. No more safe picks at this point in the draft.

Don't forget about the UDFA's that will be available. There are starters that will go undrafted.

If Ryan Griffin is available in the 5th or 6th it could be him. If he's undrafted and we didn't pick a QB I'd say its a good chance we sign him. Duke QB Sean Renfree is intriguing to me also.

The QB situation is pretty solid and stable. Not worth spending a draft pick on. Bring in a young UDFA see if he outplays McCown, if he does then let him hold the clipboard. If he doesn't put him on the practice squad. But there are far greater needs than QB.

We got Ben Watson so we don't need a TE, with the signing of Smith and drafting of Armstead we don't really need an OT either. A WR isn't a major need. Our big needs are OLB we need 4-5 and have 4 if you count Romeus and CB need 5 and have 4

At this point, there is still a lot of late first/second round talent still on the board. There is a very good chance that a guy we had rated higher than the 5th round falls to us. If that happens, and he isn't a position of NEED, you still strongly consider taking him.

We need a WR, TE, or a LB before QB. I think the Saints are hoping the Tulane kid goes undrafted. Which is a real possibility considering the amount of QBs still on the board.

I forgot about CB, but I disagree about WR. After Colston and Moore, we have nothing. With Devery gone, we sorely need a WR who can block. We missed Meachem's blocking ability last year, this year will be worse.
