I was wondering, considering the performance and age of the defense, and the success of the offense, should the Saints focus entirely on defense this upcoming draft and offseason? I don't ever recall it ever being done, And the Saints offense, although not rated perfect by any means, seems to have it together for the most part. In order to get to the superbowl you must have the total package. The Saints have lowballed on the defensive side of the ball in free agency, settling for stopgap players like Jason David, Freddie Thomas, Mark Simoneau, Scott Shanle, just to name a few, who are good but not great. These guys are all backups on a team like the Bears, if they even could make it there. It seems as if this team has not made a big splash defensively because of the focus on offense.

I wouldn't mind if the Saints went ALL defense in the draft AND FA. Its needed.

the only Offensive FA signing i hope we can pull off is getting Alan Fanaca. Nesbit is the weak link on our line and Fanaca would definitely solidify the left side and help open holes for who ever is in the backfield.

At some point I would like to draft a kicking return specialist and also a kicker. Special teams need a lot of help too, and we should not forget about that.

I think we should draft heavy on defense this year, but of course if someone is available on offense that's better than a defensive prospect (thinking rounds 5-7) then snatch him up, but other than Oline help, what else do we need on O?

They never draft what they need, or what we want...

I don't think you ever go into a draft saying we have to come away with "X" position. That's how you end up with a crappy draft full of reaches. You fill holes in Free Agency and pick best available during the draft.

Make no mistake, at #10 they will have a group of players rated very similarly, so IMO, that's the only pick where you may see them take someone that isn't the very top of the board if the guy 2-3 down fills a huge need. But, after that 10th pick, from round 2-7, pick best available.
