I know there are various thread about drafting specific offensive players but I thought that we should discuss it on a grander scale.

I understand that the Saints need defensive help in a desperate manner, but what if they used a first day pick on offense. I am not saying their 1st round pick but a 2nd or a 3rd to strengthen their most valuable asset, the offense.

A guy I look at is OT Gosder Cherilus [Boston College] who brings a lot of what the Saints need. He has great size 6'7" 320lbs. and plays with a nasty streak that the Saints OL lacks at the goal line.

I am not for spending a first day pick because, if I am not mistaken, the first day will only include Rounds 1 & 2. However, if we address defense in the first 2 rounds and possibly pull off a trade to add a 3rd pick in either rounds 2 or 3, I would be ok with it. I believe that we will need a TE and a return specialist/WR, which could be addressed in later rounds. It all depends on how FA and the first 2 rounds pan out.

I've seen some mock that have us taken Clady at number 10. If that happened..I might just rip the fleur de lis i have tatooed on my arm right off..lol We need d. We need secondary and dline help like RIGHT NOW. No drafting Offense please. We have a first round draft pick at WR. From Tenn. lol

I think many mock drafts posted on here from fans are gross overreactions. Yes I know the saints had a horrible defense, but I don't think you react to that by signing every draft pick and free agent to play defense. The team needs to go with a priority on defense, but make some key additions on offense as opportunities present themselves.

Running back needs to be addressed. The team needs to begin preparing for life without Deuce. Even if he comes back at 80% this year, he's almost 30. Stecker is getting older himself, and no one is sure about what we can expect from Pierre Thomas next year. We can't go into next year with him as the starter based off of limited action. This year the draft is particularly deep in RB, and we should be able to get a good one in round 3.

WR definitely needs to be addressed. We have 3 WRs signed going into this offseason. We need to look at upgrading the corps overall, and not relying on undrafted talent. Sure they did an adequate job, but we had too many dropped passes.

We will get better on D this offseason with some good signings, but I hope that they don't allow the offense to stagnate.

Clady would help the defense by allowing them to sit on the bench. That being said, we need some smash mouth folks on D. If they earn it we're gonna burn it. Let's gets some licks while the clock ticks. 08 is never too late.

Isn't that why we drafted Andy Alleman last season...cuz he had a little mean streak in him...plus good size?

I hope we take the best defensive player available for all 7 picks. However, I wouldn't mind taking 1 or 2 offensive players if they were by far the best player available. An OL with some push and a nasty streak may be good medicine for our lackluster running game.
