They actually screen the names on the back of the jerseys after the pick is made. This is why the the TV shows the pick as being made and the time lapse before the commissioner comes to the podium to announce it.

No, Nike is backstage and as soon as the pick is in they press the nameplate on there. Last year was the first year they did that. There is only 1 jersey per team with the #1 on it.

Ever wonder why on the screen it will say THE PICK IS IN, but it still takes minutes to announce it? Yeah.
