Drew Brees: "We're All Chomping at the Bit"
Is there more of an eagerness to start this offseason program due to what has happened the last twelve months or so with the Saints?

“Absolutely. We’re all chomping at the bit. (We’re) Obviously excited to have Coach Payton back, just excited to get back to work really. I always look forward to that downtime with the family, and I’ve taken full advantage of it this month or so, but I cannot wait to get back to work when the time comes.”
Awesome interview by Brees. That's my quarterback :9:

Unfortunetly I actually listened to that interview on WWL last week.

I swear it took 5 min for Bobby to ask one question. He went into this long drawn out quesiton about restructures, naming each player that resturctured along with their cap number...poor Drew is like uhhhhhh....then Bobby went on some capitalism vs socialism rant. I kid you not.

I understand what you're saying. Last year it was the we have a "chip on the shoulder" talk. And the "Us against the world" and "something to prove" lines.

I'm excited like everybody else to start the season and turn the page.

But as Conan the Barbarian said "Enough talk". (Throws dagger)

It's "champing," Drew. Go buy a horse. :D

Actually it is chomping. it refers to the chewing action that a horse makes when it is anxious. to chomp is to bite down or gnaw...look it up. unless you are making reference to some other inside joke that I am not privy to, the term used is correct.

He can chomp all he wants but we need improvements on defense.

What do you want him to say??

Well I think last's years talk is what got a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth.

I know I believed the Us against the World and boy did we get the opposite on the field. I see where you are coming from too. Of course Drew is going to say that, and well, I truly believe since Sean is back he and many other players are excited to get back to the field.....hell I am ready for preseason now.

I don't know. I would hope something different from the same BS every NFL player gives in every single interview. I don't expect that, just hope that. However, the matter of the fact is, I don't see how him saying that is anything to get excited about, as you're right, what else is he going to say?

Really, it's just from having followed players on twitter (which i had to stop doing). That's where it is really bad. The same BS every day.

It's actually champing. It means to show impatience.

It's champing.

The word chomp is actually derived from champ. But champ isn't used much anymore, and the idiom has sort of been bastageized into "chomping at the bit." But the proper way to write it is still, technically, "champing at the bit."
