Would Richardson be a great fit for the Saints defense?

Lockroom cancer sure. Saints defense hell no.
Where did you get your information (Link). I've just read 6 articles on Sheldon and not one mentioned any kind of trouble in the locker room or off field problem. I think he would fit good in our defensive scheme and would sign him in a minute to add to our rotation.

fwiw, the only time i see "locker room cancer" related to richardson is when he called brandon marshall one
- there seem to be several jets forums that take a less than favorable assessment of Richardson...but 'jets forums'

i do see one or two national sites use "mercurial" to describe him, but that's as bad as it seems to get

I read the NFL article. It basically stated this, Cleveland releases reliable and productive player from last two years to make room for one whos been unreliable and unproductive for the last two seasons.

Sign him at what cost ? I’ll pass I’d much sign KWann Short and Kick Jordan Inside .
A 4 man rotation of Jordan, Omenyeta and Short with Tuttle isn’t bad.
At DE you have Davenport Granderson and TP find someone in the draft to slide in rotation or FA . This is Davenport year to man his side and explode . Rather it happens or not he’ll be the starter , Granderson in rotation with a Draft pick or the FA we picked up should man the outside

I know he was productive for NY Jets. Don't know how he did with Cleveland. It appears Cleveland cut him for monetary reasons. If we can get him at a cap-friendly amount, he could help in a rotation, or as a starter. Don't know if he is a locker room or off the field problem. If so, let's hear the information. Remember that we lost two critical DL this year, via cap and trade, and we need replacements, either via free agency or draft. This is extremely important for our defense. It starts in the trenches.

Article - was also benched and suspended in NY.

I liked him coming out of college but his NFL career is up and down. If we looked at him he definitely would have to be signed with some contingencies. I’d say it’s a long shot.

What a shame... I waited for him to post those 6 links... but I guess we will never get to read them.

Quote from Link #5: Richardson had to go for a couple of reasons. He's in his contract year and the Jets almost certainly would've lost him as a free agent, receiving nothing (except maybe a compensatory pick in 2019). Concerned about his off-the-field issues, the Jets were reluctant to invest long term in the twice-suspended Richardson. They've made a concerted effort to change the culture in the locker room, which Richardson helped destroy last year with his personal vendetta against receiver Brandon Marshall. The Jets rid themselves of players like Marshall, Calvin Pryor and Darrelle Revis in an attempt to rebuild team chemistry.

Edit: Like I stated earlier in my posts, granted these occurred many years ago.
