They've lost a lot on D: Reed, Lewis, Kruger... Dumervile is a great pickup, but they've lost more than they've gained.

Name one player on the Saints defense that is in the same league as any of the 4 you just mentioned.
This has little or nothing to do with our defense. Our defense doesn't go up against their defense.

I suspect there are a lot of middling defenses whose 4 best players are better than any single player on what was statistically the worst defense in the history of the NFL :shrug:

Suggs and Dumervil coming from the ends with Courtney Upshaw in reserve, they moved Ngata to NT so you got him coming up the middle.

They might have lost some pieces but that's still a fearsome core to build around.

Ozzie Newsome is still one of the best GM's in the league. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Ravens draft Elam and he becomes an all pro for many years.
