We obviously don't have much cap room, but to have someone like this guy in the black and gold, back in the 3-4 where he thrived would be awesome.

Dumervil's Agent

In the meantime, Magid revealed that "a couple of teams" have already called to express interest in Dumervil.
"Things happen for a reason," Magid told Rapoport. "Elvis knows his ability. If Denver wants to regroup on a one-year deal, we'll do that. If not, he'll be a free agent."

Who wouldn't want him but some team with cap space is going to go all out and over spend on him

Perhaps. Many players only chase money, and many (older ones) chase rings. It depends on what the player covets more. I think most players are in the grey area. They will go to a team with the potential to make the playoffs while willing taking a little less money.

If rather just go after Butler but wouldn't be mad if we got Elvis

I like Butler too, but I'd take Elvis everyday, all day, compared to Butler. I dont think its even remotely close to be honest. You have Elvis, who's proven his game every single year he's been in the league, and at two different positions mind you. And Butler, who's barely played and at best, has shown flashes.

When news came out he was released I'm sure there were quite a few GMs that started salivating. I'd crap myself if we were able to land him, but I don't think there's any plausible way we could afford him.

So we are signing him tomorrow then?

Elvis will want way more than Saints can spend. Butler is a cheaper alternative

I'm confused...Another tweet says the Saints were one of the first teams to contact Dumervil

He is worth "overspending" but I also don't think we will get him.
However, he is the exact kind of player we need, and is battle tested.

We try to sign half-year wonder Kruger but not Dumervil? I'll let things play out.
