As most of you know, UDFA Easop Winston Jr. is no relation to Jameis.

This film study breakdown shows that he may have a strong shot to make the final 53. He ran a 4.42 40, and his route running skills are disciplined and well above average.

SCOUTING REPORT
Winston does his best work in space. He understands angles and cuts to create good separation between defenders. He's also a yards after catch machine. Getting the ball in Winston's hands via screens or slants is something the Cougars do often, and Winston tends to reward them handsomely for it. When winning down the field, Winston doesn't dominate his defenders via strength or speed, but his quickness and his nuanced route running always seems to get him the space to make catches. He has a little Antonio Brown in him, in that regard.

Callaway is definitely safe. He's only going to get better. Smith probably safe as his blocking skills keep him safe as Zack Lee alluded to.

Winston probably has about a 10-15% chance of making it. But Callaway was an unknown UDFA that made it. So it can happen.

You have to assume that with how much Callaway and Winston have been seen practicing together that there's already inherently going to be a connection between them. Smith isn't going anywhere this season, either.

He may end up being a PS guy this season, would love to be proved wrong, though.

His skillset does add more athletism to the unit if anything he can make the team as the 5th/6th guy.

1. Thomas
2. Smith
3. Calloway
4. Harris
5. Baker
6. Winston Jr./ Humphrey

If Eason Winston or Baker prove to a viable option at WR, then Saints will have a really good WR unit. Just gotta hope for good Health at WR position. 3 years in a row bad health has plaqued this unit

I'd like to say that UCLA game gave us WSU fans nightmares, or that it was just so painful, something that'll haunt us for decades. But it wasn't. We expected it. The Cougs did what the Cougs do.

I like what Easop Winston brings to the WR group. He runs crisp routes, and understands angles and cuts. Also let's not underestimate what Jalen McClesky could bring to the WR group too. He can play out of the slot or on the outside. He could absolutely scorch a secondary with his 4.35 speed.

I see no way that this is even remotely possible. Callaway is next WR1 in the wings.

Tre'Quan has been wildly inconsistent. If he doesn't step up this season, then it's time to move on. I'm all for somebody like Winston being good enough to light a fire under these other guys.

I don't think that there is any good chance of Callaway and Smith being unseated. Callaway will definitely be around because of his special teams, and Smith is reliable and polished (though unspectacular). There's also no chance that he gets a spot over CGM or Harris for obvious reasons. He does have the potential to get the #5 WR spot, but he really is going to have to show he can play special teams. That...along with his ability to be serviceable in the receiving game...will make or break him.

The only wide receivers with guaranteed jobs with the Saints this season are Michael Thomas and Deonte Harris. TQS has never done more than be a #3 or #4 WR. Callaway looks extremely promising but still has a lot to prove. Baker is a rookie and an extremely late round draft pick so it isn't like he's going to be guaranteed the shot an early round pick gets. Then you have a pool of UDFA's and Practice Squad guys.

The WR competition is going to be very intense, and fun to watch.
