East West Shrine Game Saints tidbit... (1 Viewer)

We are actually only two deep at the position with Ingram and Hightower everybody else outside of Cadet is unproven and without a defined role. Lasco seemed more comfortable on special teams than in the Saints offense and the Saints always find a gen at the position either late in the Draft or UDFA.

Sean Payton's exit interview suggest Lasco isn't the unknown u suggest. I should point out it's wise for fans to take a step back and stop assuming because you weren't able to see the players for the 3 hours a week we have access to see them doesn't mean they are unknowns.

In short he pointed out how they saw a lot from him...and his development. Getting healthy is his hurdle...not showing he's capable of playing in this league on anything other than STs

Saubert is apparently going to be the name that comes out of this process. Interesting to see how high he mves up, and if he can perform well in the actual game Saturday.

This dude looks like he could be the real deal. Obviously, he was going against a lesser level of competition, but he still looked like a man amongst boys.

Didn't really see anything in his highlights showing him blocking. Any word on his ability to block? His versatility in the passing game looks great considering how much they split him out wide, but would be even better if he'd be considered a legitimate blocker when lined up tight and could sneak out uncovered every now and again.

Ya boy who is quoted in the OP is streaming the practice live right now on periscope. DT against OL drills taking place right now. Just saw ol' boy from Michigan we were talking to yesterday.

If you had paid closer attention, you would have noticed that the tweet about the running back did not mention the Saints. The first tweet mentioned that the Saints had a conversation with a defensive tackle.

Also: Hades; etched in stone

I think it was because someone posted about a RB, in spite of the Saints not being mentioned alongside. People keep talking about RBs whether relevant to the OP or not...

Very talented young man. Scouts were already aware of him and he certainly has a chance to move up.

Saints need defensive help like crazy so why in the haydees they even looking at RB or WR. Whats up with Ryan Anderson and other defensive prospects or Olineman. The skill positions on offense is sketched in stone.
It's called "due diligence".

You never pass up an opportunity to add a player of value, regardless of which side of the ball he plays. You also never pass up an opportunity to do scouting of another team's players, even before they're on the other team.

I guess most have forgotten an article that came a few years ago. I don't remember which news agency that posted it but in sais that the NFL teams have separated into 3-4 different groups that share information on prospective draft picks. I do remember that the Saints are part of the biggest group that includes the Patriots. Quite often a team that has little interest in a player will interview him in order to trade that info on a player they are interested in but for some reason can't get an interview.

These talks with draftees early in the off season have very little meaning onto who they actually are interested in.
