The New Orleans Saints have released their first official injury report of the season, and starting weak-side linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has been ruled out of Sunday's season-opener against the Oakland Raiders.





Ellerbe, who is battling a quad injury, has not played since before the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.


Three other Saints are listed as questionable: left tackle Terron Armstead (knee/quad), wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) and tight end Chris Manhertz (head). Armstead and Thomas have been limited in practice this week; Manhertz has been a full participant.


The NFL's injury reporting rules have changed. During the offseason, the NFL eliminated the "probable" designation, limiting the choices a team has to questionable, doubtful and out.

I wouldn't be sooo ****** if he wasn't completely healthy in training camp. We gave him days off to keep him healthy. He played every preseason game with no problem. And he magically starts off the season injured...

Ugh. That chaffs my glutes. But then, Jack had his own injury concerns.
