BRIDGEPORT — It was one of those typical summer days — sweltering hot, mid-90s and humid, the kind of day when you start sweating the moment you walk out the door.
But for Frank Oleynick, Walter Luckett and so many other city kids, it was a day to play basketball. This day, the guys were at Newfield Park, shooting hoops and talking trash, the usual kid stuff, until Oleynick stopped for a minute and watched this kid who was running laps around the park.
The kid was big. And strong. Oleynick watched as he went past. Gee, he thought to himself, the kid was huge.
