used to love weekends in Destin, that pier thats about a mile long was a blast to fish off as a kid. Like the Grand Isle bridge on steroids.

20 yrs ago this was a "hideaway" spot. not anymore..i just hope it doesnt turn into a fullblast ft walton beach..it's heading in that direction. it's still a $$$ spot though...Navarre is less crowded..we like that a lot.

When I was barely a teenager, (late 60's) one of my buddies dad used to take us to Destin to go fishing. Back then, there was almost nothing to do other than fishing. There was literally one bar (the green knight) in town. It is a far different story now. My brother has lived in the Ft. Walton/Destin area for the last 27 years. My GF and I are going down there over my Spring Break to look at some condos with the idea of relocating when I retire in a few years.
