I had shoulder surgery Thursday and I am having a bit of a problem. My epiglottis tickles the back of my tongue and gives me a constant gagging sensation. It is extremely ******* annoying. It always feels as if I've got something stuck in my throat.

I looked earlier and there seems to be a white tip on the end. The doctor told me to use sore throat spray to help deaden the sensation.

Anything I should be worried about?

Odds are good that if you were intubated, it the uvula could have been irritated. Cold fluids, rest (less talking) and time will all help. The sore throat spray (chloroseptic) will deaden the nerve endings, making it more tolerable.
