Mickey Loomis said that Erik McCoy is a player that checks all the boxes for him.
The former Texas A&M center was the New Orleans Saints’ first draft pick this year, and so far, he’s still trying to the check all the boxes they’ve been giving him.
McCoy took part in the Saints’ rookie minicamp in Metairie recently, and, while he enjoyed the process and made some strides wearing the gold helmet, he did admit that there’s a way to go before he understands the language of the team’s offensive scheme.
“The terminology in college was pretty simple,” McCoy said during the rookie minicamp period. “I’ve learned just the first two days here that it is not simple, but I’m learning.”
