When offensive lineman Erik McCoy arrived at Texas A&M out of Lufkin, Texas, in the class of 2015, he did so with little fanfare. A three-star recruit, his only other two Power 5 offers came from Kansas and Oklahoma State.
After redshirting his first season on campus, McCoy emerged as the starting center in 2016 and never gave the job up. Now, he is exceeding expectations once again.
NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks rated the NFL's top 10 second-year players for the 2020 season and he has been impressed by McCoy. The New Orleans Saints center came in at No. 6 overall on the list.
A former scout, Brooks liked what he saw from the rookie a year ago as McCoy immediately earned the starting job in New Orleans after having been a second-round pick.
