I don't live in Louisiana. None of these people are Saints fans. Local sports radio was ranting about how terrible a call that was and how unfair the replay rules are. And something just feels off with everyone here. Everyone's sort of quiet and sedate, walking around in a haze.
We live in an unjust world where social media and cameras shine the light on such things and expose them. In the grand scheme of things, football is unimportant, but I think that play was emblematic of the unfairness of life. We ALL saw it. We ALL know it was wrong. We ALL know the wrong team benefitted. The wrong people will prosper from that call. And it's right there in front of us to look at over and over. Yet nothing will be done to correct this and make it right. It's possible to do, but it would be difficult and expensive and would require strong leadership, as doing the right thing in the face of injustice always is. So we'll get nothing. It's the world in a microcosm, and all these people seem to feel it in their bones, Saints fans or not.
This is wrong.
