With all of the controversy surrounding the bounty scandal, last season did not go the way the New Orleans Saints were hoping it would as they struggled to stay consistent–especially when it came to their defense. In fact, the Saints’ defense ranked last overall for the 2012 season–so there’s no place to go but up heading into next year.
One of the key additions to keep an eye on from the perspective of New Orleans–former Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro.
New Orleans signed Vaccaro this week along with a few other draft picks as they hope their first-round pick pays off for the 2013 season. The argument can be made that Vaccaro was arguably one of the best safeties in this year’s draft class and when looking at how bad the Saints’ defense was last season–there’s a good chance he could even start as a rookie.
