The New York Jets and guard Alan Faneca have agreed in principle to a four-year, $32 million deal that includes roughly $23 million in guarantees, ESPN's Michael Smith reports. Faneca is expected to travel to New York this weekend when the deal will be finalized. The Jets are planning on playing Faneca at left guard.

Realistically, we were never really going to make a play for him.
IIRC he wasn't even going to visit any where, just decide between the Rams, Niners, and NYJ. I thought he would definately be a cardinal, but I suppose not.

Great pick up for them guess they wont be complaining no more bout loosing Vilma there line is getting really good with D Brick and ManGold. Now you add a guard and anybody can play Running back for them

Nearly $23 million in guarantees out of $32 million. So two-thirds of that is in guaranteed money.

Faneca a perenial Pro Bowler gets $32 mil and Jeff Faine gets $37.5 mil? Somebody overpaid and it wasn't the Jets.......

that's a good move for the Jets

I read / heard someplace that the Cards told Faneca to give them until the end of the weekend to try to free up some cap space....

Rick Smith, the agent for Faneca, just said reports that his guy just signed a contract with the Jets is false and that there is no contract in place, according to Newsday.

EDIT -- Sorry, just saw the post two up from here.

hehe, at least you put it in the right thread :hihi:

Sirius said earlier that Cards (because of Russ Grimm) would likely have "right of first refusal" - the chance to beat any offer he had gotten so he could play with his old coach.

Beat me to it when I saw this thread. Superb OL built by the Jets, nicely done.
