I brought this into another thread but was so amazed by this matter of fact quote from the following article I thought some who didn't see this may be suprised.

In fact, as an LSU track note sheet this week pointed out, it might make him the fastest player in the history of football. In recorded athletic history, only 69 men have run a faster 100-meter time than Trindon Holliday, and not one of them played a down.

Ok, well the thread title is a bit misleading. He's perhaps the fastest 100-meter track runner to ever play football.....

Incidentally, the guy they mentioned in there who has a better 60 meter time than Holiday--Richard Thompson--was a roommate of mine for a year.

bo jackson could have beat him wearing no shoes and prime times jewelry from his SI cover while pushing a bobsled with one arm and holding michael jordan and wayne gretsky in his other.................................................in russia.

Bo Jackson was a beast amongst little beast.

Well, he'd have to put the baseball bat down first.

Football is Football. He is the fastest man to EVER play the game whether its been pee wee, pop warner, jr. high, high school, college, nfl, usfl, arena, nfl euro, world, flag, powder puff, or any others wearing unis totin a pigskin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_metres

100 m (one hundred metres) is the shortest outdoor sprint race distance in athletics. The reigning 100 m Olympic champion is often named "the fastest man/woman in the world".

In the past, athletes often competed over 100 yards (91 m) instead of the 100 m, especially in the United States. This shorter distance is now obsolete.

Not sure how thread title is misleading.....A football field is 100 yards long between the goal lines. The endzones are 10 yards deep. 100m is approx 110 yards long. This means Holliday would also be the fastest football player ever to start at his own goal line and run past the other goal line to the back of the endzone. Heck, he could probably run down Poydras and grab a roast beef w/debris from Mothers and return before we could get back in our seats with a dome dog.

Because pure track speed doesn't necessarily translate to football speed, that's what he is saying.

Because, say the fastest person to play football was faster than Holliday, but just never ran track, that wouldn't make Holliday the fastest.
