This week, two of the NFL’s signature players decided to officially walk away from football.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp have retired from the game, and their personalities will certainly be missed.

In the case of Favre, it was surprising at first to hear the news that the quarterback who had just led his team to the NFC championship game would be walking away from the game he truly loved to play. But watching his press conference cleared up any doubt in my mind that he was burnt out.

For the past 17 seasons, and in particular the final 16 in Green Bay, Favre has been a significant player, and one you always associated with the Packers and a certain style of play. Full Story - Courier
