Week ONE in the NFL is in the books and the Saints' performance against the Lions last week has only furthered the great expectations of this season. This week's opponent appears to be quite an upgrade in competition, as the Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFL this decade. Let's take a look at the Saints-Eagles match-up and the rest of WEEK TWO in the NFL.

QUICK THOUGHTS

-It is refreshing to hear some of the accolades that Drew Brees is finally receiving as being in the conversation of the best QB in the NFL. Considering his lack of height compared to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, along with the absence of a Super Bowl ring, the fact that Brees is slowly being recognized as the possible best at the most important position in the game underscores how much he means to the success of this franchise.

-Special teams, a squad that contributed heavily in two losses last season, appeared to have picked up on their mistake-laden ways of 2008. This is the BIGGEST area of improvement that MUST be corrected ASAP.

-Charles Grant and Will Smith's impending suspension has been put on hiatus once again while Roger Goodell and Co. continue their legal battle in the Starcaps case. Unfortunately for Saints' fans, Grant and Smith have been playing as if they were suspended, as their presence in against Detroit was non-existent.

-To hold Calvin Johnson to only three catches despite a rookie QB throwing him the football is a good sign of the improving talent in the secondary

WEEK TWO-Saints vs. Eagles

Line: Pick 'Em

This week will be a great test for both the Saints and the Eagles, as both teams figure to be post-season contenders. The Eagles will likely be without Donovan McNabb, meaning the Saints will face another inexperienced QB for the second week in a row. The Eagles' defense provided an incredible performance last week against the quickly-fading Jake Delhomme, and by all accounts appear to be a championship-calliber squad. This game, while it may have playoff-implications down the line, is not a season-making contest for either team.

Brees has a pedestrian game by his standards as he throws for 280 yards and three touchdowns, finding Jeremy Shockey again in the red zone. Mike Bell and the running game comes back to earth as Bell rushes for 40 yards, with a team total of 65 yards. Kevin Kolb looks good early, Brian Westbrook finds the end zone twice, but his inexperience is too much to overcome an opportunistic Saints' defense. Scott says take the Saints straight up...Saints 24 Eagles 20
