Lions released CB Fernando Bryant.

He led Detroit with 13 breakups in 2007, but was unhappy there and pushed for his release. With Travis Fisher and Keith Smith unsigned, the Lions are down to one cornerback who played extensively last year, Stanley Wilson.
Did the lions run a cover 2 D?

I do not think they run a base cover 2. But I could be totally wrong.

Fernando Bryant was a very promising corner in his time with Jacksonville, he signed a free agent contract with Detroit after, where he has spent the last four seasons.

Bryant is not the biggest corner, but he was very aggressive while playing with the jaguars. He never had the impact expected with the lions, but it is always tough to evaluate the performance of a player with the lions.

He is now 30 years old. I don't know how much he still has in the tank, but 4 years ago he was a very solid corner.

Yes, Marinelli is a Tampa guy. He got rid of Donnie Henderson as D coordinator because he wasn't a Tampa 2 guy. He hired Jon Barry, son-in-law/former Tampa LB coach/guy he wanted all along, last year to effectively run it. Did real well with it early in the season and at one point lead the league in turnovers.

They ran a straight Tampa-2. Rod Marinelli's the coach there, remember.

IIRC, they don't run a defense at all. :hihi:
To add to that statement, they run around a lot on defense chasing ball carriers. One of their players just waits for the ball carrier to get to him, Shaun Rogers!
