A few weeks back some friends and I were discussing how growing up the norm was that rookie QBs would sit behind the veteran QB and then the rookie would take over the following year (Rodgers sat behind Favre, Drunkenmiller sat behind Young, Mahomes sat behind Smith, etc.), but now that isn’t the case, now it’s see if the rookie can win you some games, and let him grow through the pain. The Salary Cap and roster size have a lot to do with that, but it’s interesting how times have changed.

Well my friend (who is a Raiders fan) threw the following stats together.

- From 2000 to 2018, 54 QBs have been taken in the 1st round of the draft. Only 26 have a career winning % as a starter above 50%.
- Of those 26 winning 1st round picks, 10 of them were named the starter for Game 1. 9 of the 26 were named the starter at some other point during their rookie season. 7 didn't become starters until the next year or later.
- Of the total 54 QBs drafted in the 1st round during that period, only 10 were not named their team's starter during their rookie season. Of those 10, 7 have winning records as starters, 3 dont. And if those 10, 4 are likely headed to the Hall of Fame (Brees, Mahomes, Rivers, Rodgers).
-Which 2 teams have NOT picked a QB in the 1st round since 2000?
